How we check every installer

Every installer listed here holds recognised certification (MCS, or OZEV for EV charge points) and is run through our 12-point verification. We re-run the checks regularly, and an installer's badge only ever counts the checks that actually passed.

The 9 automated checks

• Certification number on file

  Their certification number was matched against real MCS register data when the listing was created or claimed. We hold no live MCS feed, so this reflects that one-time match, not an ongoing re-check.

  The services listed match what the MCS register data showed when added — not independently re-verified against a live feed.

• Certification body on record

  Which recognised body certified them (NAPIT, NICEIC, etc.) — real data matched at signup, same as the certification number and technologies checks above, not independently re-verified against a live feed.

• Registered UK company, active

  Looked up directly by the Companies House number they supplied — deterministic and accurate. Without a number on file this stays pending; we never guess via a name search.

• Years trading

  Trading history from the Companies House incorporation date, looked up by their company number.

• No insolvency or bankruptcy

  No live insolvency proceedings on record.

• Phoenixing / duplicate check

  Cross-checked against previously removed listings and directors' prior dissolved companies.

  Their website responds and is actively maintained.

• Genuine customer reviews

  Real review history verified via their Google profile.

Plus 3 enhanced checks

Installer-supplied documents we verify manually. These show as “pending” on a profile until the evidence has been checked. They are never marked passed automatically.

• Photo ID verified

  Confirmed the person is who they say they are during their Verified Pro onboarding call — photo ID checked against the certificate/business name, no paid ID-verification service involved.

• No disqualified directors

  Checked against the free public register of disqualified company directors — done manually by staff, no automated feed and no cost involved.

• Public liability insurance

  Installer sends their current policy document; staff confirm it hasn't expired. Free — no paid verification service involved.
